Bumpdate {38 weeks}

Happy Valentines Day!

  • How far along? 38 weeks 3 days
  • Weight Gain/Loss: -3 from last week, proving it was the clothes :) I'm up 25 lbs total so far
  • Dr appointment: dilated 1cm, 40% effaced, fundal height 36.5/37cm. Went over our birth plan with the dr and there wasn't anything that she was really opposed to so that's good. Discussed stripping my membranes at next weeks appt, mostly because she knows I want to avoid a medical induction as much as possible.
  • Sleep: Still on the same schedule as last week. Struggling with falling asleep because of my nesting, my mind is going a million miles an hour before bed.
  • Movement: my belly looks lopsided occasionally these days, and the kicks are so strong sometimes!
  • Food Cravings: our early valentines day dinner at the melting pot last night hit the spot!!
  • Food Aversions: nothing really
  • Belly Button: goes between completely out and flat depending on my position and if I'm using my abs (or attempting to!) at all
  • Stretch Marks: Not yet! Come on baby, stay away! I'll have enough tiny needle scars (I can already see some) that maybe I'll avoid more stretch marks
  • Symptoms: occasionally I have a bad backache, and my soreness from swelling is actually pregnancy induced carpal tunnel syndrome. It's not awful though so I try not to complain too much. I am, however, OVER the injections. We tried switching to my leg two evenings this week and one left a giant splotch and the next one bruised and bled like crazy. We will just stick to the belly as much as possible because it's just familiar and at least the bruises don't hurt as much!
  • What I miss: not having to do these dang shots!  Just another reason for this baby girl to make her appearance soon!
  • What I’m looking forward to: I wouldn't say labor because I'm not crazy, but I want her here!
  • Nursery update: I got her gallery wall hung so I just need to hang the bookshelves, mirror and embroidery hoops this weekend and it's all done!
Getting ready for our melting pot dinner! 38 weeks and 2 days

Random thoughts...

From the extremely pregnant lady in bed with a lot of heartburn.

1. There is nothing better than when my husband reaches out for me in his sleep and snuggles close. Nothing.

2. Eating the second half of my burrito half an hour before trying to sleep was easily the worst decision I've made all week.

3. I am starting to get a glimpse of the desperation witnessed in so many pregnant friends when they are in their last month of pregnancy.

4. On that note - COME ON, labor, BRING IT! (Imagine me whimpering and begging for forgiveness for my outburst when labor actually does start. It's guaranteed to happen.)

Bumpdate {37 weeks}

Full term this week!!

  • How far along? 37 weeks 6 days
  • Weight Gain/Loss: +3lbs from last week. Whoops. Could very well be due to the heavy clothes I was wearing - just humor me okay?!
  • Dr appointment: fine - skipped the cervical check this week luckily, spent most of the time talking with dr about the heparin injections to try and decrease the bruising and what not. Fundal height measured 35.5, so still not much growth but dr isn't concerned because the measurements aren't as indicative due to the baby moving lower into the pelvis.
  • Sleep: The early morning bathroom run continues, but the morning injection is not allowing me to fall back asleep as easy. this means tossing and turning for an hour or two before falling asleep again until much later than I would like - 9 or 930 usually. Ugh.
  • Movement: I'm starting to tell her that if she's trying to make an escape, move DOWN! Some days it hurts how much she moves, especially my poor ribs.
  • Food Cravings: still the sweets - I'm hoping this goes away or I'm looking at a life of diabetes.
  • Food Aversions: nothing really
  • Belly Button: it's still half out. Boo
  • Stretch Marks: Not yet
  • Symptoms: sore fingers from the swelling, bruised and sore belly from the injections and I'm hitting that point of SUPER discomfort. Especially in the evenings! I can't get comfy unless I'm in bed and sometimes not even then.
  • What I miss: Rolling over without pain.
  • What I’m looking forward to: newborn care class tonight, because Luke is really looking forward to it :) we are so ready for her!
  • Nursery update: having trouble committing to where I want to hang the art I have - probably because once it's done, her room is done :)

Bumpdate {36 weeks}

  • How far along? 36 weeks 6 days
  • Weight Gain/Loss: No gain at this weeks appt - I'm convinced my weight was off at my 34 week appointment because of this.
  • Dr appointment: went well - no blood in my urine which has been an issue before (dr thinks it was the kidneys acting up again), group b strep test performed and first cervical check. I wasn't quite 1 cm yet and no effacement worth mentioning. My belly measured 35 cm but dr isn't concerned. The big change was switching from lovenox to heparin, which means two injections daily instead of one. After some drama getting the prescription filled (thanks Cigna), they are going well. They don't seem to hurt nearly as much and the burning isn't anything like the lovenox. I do seem to bleed more and bruise more but whatever - I can't even see 2/3 of my stomach so it doesn't matter :)
  • Sleep: I'm convinced I sleep better because the baby's room is done and I have everything I need. I only wake up once a night early in the morning to use the bathroom and now I'm up for my shot around 630. I'm usually able to go back to sleep for a couple hours after.
  • Movement: She seems to be fine, I think she's just running out of room!
  • Food Cravings: milkshakes and ice cream and brownies, oh my!
  • Food Aversions: I tried coffee this week and ended up with wicked heartburn all day - yuck
  • Belly Button: it's half out I would say, sadly
  • Stretch Marks: Not yet
  • Symptoms: my hands are swelling at night now - I wake up with my finger joints really stiff and sore. My ribs are also getting really sore from all these kicks, and she's definitely making me more uncomfortable.
  • What I miss: Still missing the beer, it would have been nice to drink my sorrows away yesterday during the Super Bowl :(
  • What I’m looking forward to: at this point I just want her here!
  • Nursery update: we only got the new chandelier hung this week and I made the mobile, but my plan is to finish the artwork and hang the bookshelves this week. If I can get my sewing machine set up that would be amazing.
  • Recent purchases: I have held back on buying anything else (but have you seen the Paddington bear collection at baby Gap? I'm dying) but we will see if my resolve holds.
Mama and baby girl at the AFC championship game - such a great game that I'm still trying to hold onto and not think about the Super Bowl.

Nesting has set in! It's only in the evenings, which isn't compatible with Luke's usual evening relaxation schedule much to his dismay. :) pictures are finally being hung at the house.

    Puppy snuggles with the bump

15 weeks and 36 weeks, the first and last games of the season!

Bumpdate {35 weeks}

  • 35 weeks!

  • How far along? 35 weeks 2 days
  • Weight Gain/Loss: I had a huge jump in weight at last weeks appt - 8 lbs! It worried me some but the dr wasn't concerned at all. Hopefully I don't continue at that rate!
  • Sleep: seems better recently - not sure why but I'll take it!
  • Best moment this week: the broncos win! We are Super Bowl bound!
  • Movement: She still seems to be moving less than before, but our dr did a non stress test and she passed with flying colors. All my kick counts are fine as well so I'm sure she's just getting cramped.
  • Food Cravings: milkshakes and ice cream :)
  • Food Aversions: nothing I can think of
  • Belly Button: some days it looks like it's going to pop out for sure!
  • Stretch Marks: Not yet
  • Symptoms: ive noticed more joint popping, especially in my hips lately
  • What I miss: Beer. A lot. Oh I'm so close! I also miss rolling over in bed without it being a production :)
  • What I’m looking forward to: I am so ready to meet her!
  • Nursery update: we are so close to being done! We made a ton of progress in the last two weeks. We took a step backward with the light fixture and we have to replace it but that's the only main thing left
  • Completed: paint, closet, crib, dresser, rocking chair, carpet, curtains, shelves
  • To-do list: hang bookshelves, order and hang new light fixture, make crib skirt and mobile, hang art

  • Last week's to-do list:
    1. Touch up paint - check
    2. Put together dresser and put away clothes, etc. - check
    3. Hang curtains, shelves - check
    4. Organize family room so I can access and use my sewing machine - we made a dent so maybe this weekend it'll be done
    5. Put together gifted items (swing, car seat, stroller, pack and play) - check, thanks to papa :)
    6. Make cradle sheets and crib skirt - I'm going to use regular bassinet sheets and shrink them down a bit so I'm checking that off the list! Still need to figure out the crib skirt

Finn doesn't appreciate my OCD tendencies about gallery wall art

Recent purchases: I basically bought everything left on our registry, plus a little more! Diaper pail, tub, K'tan carrier, and stroller adapter were the main items. I also bought some waterproof pads and crib protectors, and I swallowed my pride and found a diaper bag I can live with. I couldn't handle the cheesy, plasticky, childish bags that are everywhere. The bag I wanted was $200 and I could swallow my pride better than that price, so I found a somewhat-happy-medium.

Bump date {33 weeks}

  • 33 weeks!
  • How far along? 33 weeks 5 days
  • Weight Gain/Loss: on track I imagine - next weigh-in is Wednesday
  • Sleep: I've seen 3 am more times this this week than I care to count.
  • Best moment this week: So many! My baby shower was aaaamazing! It deserves it's own post :) We also started our birth class, and found a pediatrician.
  • Movement: less movement this week which I plan on asking my dr about. She's still moving enough whenever I do kick counts so it's probably just her running out of room but I want to make sure.
  • Food Cravings: sweets but not quite as bad as it's been.
  • Food Aversions: the smell of old coffee.  Ugh
  • Belly Button: Still hasn't popped but it might.
  • Stretch Marks: Not yet
  • Symptoms: tired, and getting over this awful chest cold. Finally starting to feel better though.
  • What I miss: I'd love a beer or glass of wine. I'm so close!
  • What I’m looking forward to: our first baby class is on Monday, my baby shower next weekend and finishing the nursery! I'm hoping we will have the nursery almost wrapped up by next weekend, aside from wall art and the stinking rocker that we can't find.
  • Nursery update:  not much progress this week. I did get the closet organizers set up, but nothing put away yet. I went to Ikea last weekend to purchase the dresser and they were OUT. I was super upset and it meant another 45 minute trek to south Denver on Friday to get it by myself. That was a mess. I did it though, so now Luke and I just need to put it together so I can put. things. away. We also went ahead and purchased the La-Z-Boy rocker/recliner even though it doesn't match. We decided that I will probably spend so much time in the living room that it makes just as much sense to put it there and put the small cream rocking chair that belonged to my great grandma in the nursery. At least we have a rocker in both rooms that way. I also ordered a few prints from Etsy sellers and am waiting for them to be delivered! From last week's to-do list, I'm doing okay!
  • Last week's to-do list:
    1. Find a rocker! -check
    2. Touch up paint
    3. Put together crib, hang curtains, put together closet organizers -partial check - crib is up and organizers are set up
    4. Wash baby clothes/blankets, put away before the onslaught that next week's baby shower will bring - mostly checked - I missed a few things
    5. Find a pouf ottoman and order wall art -no pouf, but ordered art
    6. Continue packing hospital bag -almost done with the bags! Waiting on a diaper bag to show up

    This week's to-do list:
    1. Touch up paint
    2. Put together dresser and put away clothes, etc.
    3. Hang curtains, shelves
    4. Organize family room so I can access and use my sewing machine
    5. Put together gifted items (swing, car seat, stroller, pack and play)
    6. Make cradle sheets and crib skirt

Recent purchase: As I mentioned, I went to Ikea (twice) and bought her dresser, picture ledges for book shelves (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20126065), Lack wall shelves (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70103622/#/50103618), and her rocker
    Hemnes white 8 drawer dresser

La-Z-Boy Owen Reclina-Rocker - ours is similar but doesn't have the trim splitting the cushions in thirds. We got a great deal on the rocker because the color was being discontinued, therefore saving us $300!

    Pictures of the week:
I'm really excited to share pictures of the baby shower in another post, but here is a sneak peek shared by the bakery that did our cake:
Can you guess the cake's theme??

Luke was promoted to staff sergeant at drill this month so I got up ridiculously early to see it!

I am soooo proud of how hard he works! It's great for him to receive this promotion before he ends his time with the Marines in July this year.

This side by side comparison shows only TWO WEEKS difference! 31 weeks and 33 weeks.

Nursery progress being shown off by the nosy dog!

Bump date {32 weeks}

  • How far along? 32 weeks 2 days
  • Weight Gain/Loss: +3 lbs at my recent dr appt, +18 lbs total so far
  • Sleep: I want more
  • Best moment this week: in the past two weeks, Christmas was really great! New Years was a little more than I planned, but was pretty fun overall. I am paying for it with a sore throat two days later now!
  • Movement: lots of rolling, hiccups, and some pretty big "freak out" kicks and punches that feel like she's trying to make a break for it
  • Food Cravings: the usual.
  • Food Aversions: nothing I can think of
  • Belly Button: ALMOST flat. Ugh
  • Stretch Marks: No new ones yet!
  • Symptoms: just tired for the most part.
  • What I miss: I'm a broken record - sleeping through the night
  • What I’m looking forward to: our first baby class is on Monday, my baby shower next weekend and finishing the nursery! I'm hoping we will have the nursery almost wrapped up by next weekend, aside from wall art and the stinking rocker that we can't find.
  • Nursery update:  my mom finished painting this week! The only thing needed is a little touch up, but here it is!
  • Ignore the white spot, that's glare from the window.
  • That lamp kills me - it's the equivalent of a tutu!

It's hard to get a good picture of the blue but it's pretty similar to this:
    Sherwin Williams Calypso

I love seeing her room from the living room, peeking through the door :)

    This week's to-do list:
    1. Find a rocker!
    2. Touch up paint
    3. Put together crib, hang curtains, put together closet organizers
    4. Wash baby clothes/blankets, put away before the onslaught that next week's baby shower will bring
    5. Find a pouf ottoman and order wall art
    6. Continue packing hospital bag

Recent purchases: a backup diaper bag, a custom sized cradle mattress, and the crib!
    Boken diaper bag

    Babyletto Hudson crib in white

Ababy.com makes custom sized mattresses, and since the cradle is one that was hand built for my baby sister, it never had a true mattress. It's a little bit of a funky shape so I'm hoping the 15.5" x 28" x 2" mattress will work well.

Here's a recent picture too, but unfortunately Luke and I took no pictures on Christmas OR New Years. We suck.
